On Windows 32 bits, you have a limitation of 2 GB for each application. However you can increase this limit to 3 GB permorming two simple steps:

  • Add the /3GB switch to the Boot.ini file that you will find in the C: root folder. For example:
[operating systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINNT="Windows NT Server Version 4.00" /3GB
  • Set the IMAGE_FILE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE flag in the image header. To do this you need to use the applicatino editbin.exe. To execute this application, you need to open a Visual Studio Command Prompt and call:
     editbin.exe /LARGEADDRESSAWARE Gimias.exe
